The Wark working group (Technical Chemistry) is pleased to be participating in the research platform "Landesgraduiertenkolleg Wasserstoff und Wasserstoffderivat Ammoniak".
Laura Gronewold, PhD student in the Wark group, will be working on the development of new catalysts for the catalytic and/or electrochemical decomposition of ammonia to hydrogen in sub-project III.3 of the Research Training Group. In collaboration with Prof. T. Turek and his group at Claushal University of Technology, they will investigate which mixed metal oxyhydroxides of the 8th subgroup (Fe, Co, Ni) are suitable for the electrochemical decomposition of NH₃ to H₂ and whether they can be reduced to mixed metals or alloys that are also active in the thermal-catalytic decomposition of ammonia while maintaining the necessary high dispersion and controlling the surface structure.
The state research training group will be officially opened by the responsible Minister Falko Mohrs at the kick-off meeting for the overarching funding line"Transformation of the Lower Saxony Energy System (TEN)" on 14 and 15 October 2024 at Leibniz Universität Hannover. More and further information will follow.
