The Centre for Energy Education was founded in 2009 and expanded in 2017 to become the Centre for Energy and Sustainability Education (AENB). Through its activities, it supports the University of Oldenburg’s focus on sustainability.

It is a consortium of professorships in subject didactics and educational science under the umbrella of the Centre for Didactics (DiZ), with the participation of the Centre of Excellence for Teacher Training, the Oldenburg Centre for Continuing Professional Development (OFZ).
This network is committed to strengthening and embedding energy and sustainability education in school practice and in university teacher training. It encompasses the didactics of the subjects biology, chemistry, history, Computing Science, Economics Education, physics, General Studies, technology, Business Education, as well as general teaching and learning research.

The centre was established as part of the project ‘Education for Sustainable Energy Supply and Use’.
