Aims and Qualifications
The Department of English and American Studies offers a one-year programme of study, M.Ed. Haupt-/Realschule, after which students will graduate with the degree Master of Education (M.Ed.). This programme marks the second step of the triadic study path outlined above, following consecutively upon the B.A. Anglistik. Upon completion of the M.Ed. Haupt-/Realschule, students qualify for the Referendariat and, subsequently, for a teaching position in state schools (Haupt-/Realschule).
Structure
Students aiming at this degree will have to obtain a total of 120 KP during their Master programme:

In order to obtain your 9 KP in Anglistik you will have to complete the following module:

Info: Students who started their studies before the winter term 22/23 complete ang702, which is only an interim solution and valid until 2025. All students starting in winter 22/23 or later complete ang713 instead.
Students who wish to write their M.Ed. thesis in a field of English other than didactics have to demonstrate relevant experience and competence to their potential supervisors.

Prerequisites
- B.A. in Anglistik
Knowledge of Foreign Languages
- M.Ed.Haupt-/Realschule students will have to certify knowledge of one foreign language (apart from English) before registering for their Master thesis.
Stay Abroad
- M.Ed. Haupt-/Realschule students must complete and submit proof of a relevant three-month (twelve-week) stay abroad undertaken during their university studies by the time they register to submit their master’s thesis.
