Student Advisory Service

Student Advisory Service for English and American Studies

Welcome to our website, where you can find a great deal of information on the Hows, Dos and Don'ts in the department! Whether you are already enrolled in one of our programmes or a future student interested in our courses, we will do our best to help you and answer any questions you may have relating to English and American Studies at Oldenburg University.

In addition to the information provided online all staff hold regular office hours where you can discuss questions face-to-face - check Stud.IP for dates and times. You may also contact academic staff by phone or e-mail.

Please find further links to advisory services below and in the column on the left.

Students who want to apply for hardship cases (‘Härtefälle’), who need to have their BAföG forms signed, and who want to apply for part time study (‘Teilzeitstudium’) need to sign up for Ilka Flöck's office hour specifically dedicated to these matters via her Stud.IP profile. The office hour for hardship cases, BAföG and part-time studies will take place on Tuesday 10-11.

  • Stay abroad:

If you are in the initial stages of preparing for your stay abroad, please consult our online resources (https://uol.de/en/english-american/student-guide/working-and-studying-abroad). There  you will find an extensive collection of relevant information. If you have specific questions about your stay abroad, please book an appointment in one of Lauren Freede's stay abroad office hours via her Stud.IP profile. The stay abroad office hours take place on Tuesday 10:30-11:30am or Wednesday 1:30-2:30pm.
