Lower Saxony Higher Education Act
(1) Students with a higher education entrance qualification shall be enrolled in (...) several degree programmes (...) upon their proposal. (§ 19 para. 1 NHG)
Enrolment regulations of the University of Oldenburg
(1) Students who are already enrolled at another university may be admitted to the university if it is possible to study at both universities at the same time. In cases of doubt, the responsible School must be consulted.
(2) Students who are already enrolled on a degree programme with restricted admission at this or another university may only be enrolled on a further degree programme with restricted admission if (...) the degree programme is a useful addition to the degree programme first taken up and it is possible to study on both degree programmes at the same time. The opinions of the participating Schools must be obtained. (§ 9 para. 1 and 2 Enrolment Regulations)
Double degree programme
Definition
- A double degree programme is the simultaneous study of two degree programmes.
- Enrolment takes place in the first and second degree programme.
- Theoretically, up to three degree programmes are possible in parallel at one or more
universities.
Reasons
- Higher or broader qualification
- Possibly better opportunities on the labour market
- Option to become a teacher or pursue a career outside of teaching
- Option to study another type of school
- Interest in (academic) specialisation or expansion
Proposals for a double degree programme
Are you studying for a Bachelor's degree and would like to add two additional subjects, i.e. complete a double degree programme? At least one of the two new subjects is one of the subjects offered by School IV and at least one subject is subject to admission restrictions?
Are you studying a Master's degree programme with restricted admission and would like to apply for another Master's degree programme with restricted admission (M.Ed. or M.A.)?

Your proposal should include the following:
- Name and student ID number.
- Which degree programme with which combination of subjects are you currently studying?
- Which degree programme with which combination of subjects do you want to study additionally in a double degree programme?
- How are you planning your course of study? Please present this in a table (with both degree programmes, possibly with four subjects). Do not plan more than a maximum of 45 CP per semester.
- Please explain why the new degree programme is a useful addition to your previous studies.
- Please describe your previous successful studies (usually by means of an extract from Stud.IP with your overview of grades or the transcript of records).
Please note that a double degree programme does not mean an additional subject, but an additional degree programme. In the case of an additional two-subject Bachelor's programme, this means that you must study both subjects. If you are studying a Master of Education and are interested in an additional teaching subject, you can apply for admission to a so-called extension subject.
