Important information

Obligation to declare seminar paper (good academic practice)

Each seminar paper must be accompanied by a declaration by the student that he/she has written the work independently and only with the sources indicated. This declaration must be signed by the student. Seminar papers/theses will not be accepted without this declaration!

Text:
I declare that I have written this paper independently and have not used any sources or aids other than those specified and that I have followed the general principles of academic work and publications as laid down in the guidelines of good academic practice of the University of Oldenburg."

In the case of group work, the contributions of the authors to be assessed as examination performance must also be differentiated from each other, e.g. by specifying chapters or page numbers.

The following also applies to German Studies (see the relevant subject-specific annex to the examination regulations):
If the examination papers to be submitted in paper form are based on electronic documents or files, an electronic version with identical content in a common file format must be submitted in addition to the printed version. However, only the submitted paper version is deemed to be the examination performance.

Faculty module (from winter semester 19/20: faculty area) and area of specialisation

Information on the faculty module (from winter semester 19/20: faculty area) and area of specialisation can be found here.

Compulsory attendance

Students are required to actively participate in the modules or individual components of the modules. Active participation may include Regular attendance and participation in courses, preparation and follow-up of teaching material (e.g. protocols, assignments, preparation/reading of texts) as well as, depending on the type of course, the assumption of papers, short and impulse presentations, presentations, short presentations or similar. The applicable criteria for active participation are determined at the beginning of the courses belonging to the module in consultation with the students. The lecturers decide on the fulfilment of the criteria for active participation, if necessary in consultation with the module coordinators.

At its meeting on 31 May 2010, the Institute Council of German Studies decided that lecturers would post or link the conditions for active participation for each course in Stud.IP within the first two weeks after the course begins.

Enrolment in Master's modules

There are no specifications as to the period within which a Master's module must be completed in the M.A. German Studies and M.A. DaF/DaZ. However, students of the M.A. DaF/DaZ should bear in mind when planning their studies that MM 8 and MM 9 may not be offered every semester, but only once a year! Here, as in MM 3, it makes more than sense to complete the module within one semester.

You can find out which Master's modules you must have studied in order to be able to register for the Master's thesis and how many CPs you must have studied in total for registration in the examination regulations according to which you are studying. Please refer to both the general section (total number of CPs) and the subject-specific annex for German Studies or German as a foreign language and literature.
