Important information about registration and allocation of places for our workshops!
- We have new terms and conditions! To ensure interdisciplinarity, no more than half of the available places for each workshop will be allocated to members of the same faculty. By registering, you agree to the Graduate Academy’s terms and conditions.
- Please also note that registration for the workshops takes place via StudIP and is binding. You cannot cancel your registration yourself. If you do not have StudIP access, please contact graduiertenakademie@uol.de via email.
- Registration is always provisional at first. The Graduate Academy will verify whether you are eligible to participate and whether spots are available. Afterward, access will be granted in the order of the registration date! (You will then receive an automatic email).
- If you are unable to attend the event, please cancel your registration by emailing us. This will allow people on the waiting list to move up.

- Nominations for DAAD award 2026 welcome!
Until November 8, 2026, students, faculty, and staff can once again nominate international students and doctoral candidates for the DAAD Award in recognition of their outstanding achievements and commitment. The award is worth 1.000 euros. Further information and forms can be found on the website.

- E-learning course "Good Academic Practice"
How should research results be documented? How do you cite correctly? How do you deal with image sources? Answers to questions about correct scientific work can be found in the e-learning course Good Academic Practice in Doctoral Studies. P.S.: Since the end of 2024, the UOL has issued general recommendations on the use of (generative) AI in doctoral studies.
- Measures to ensure equal opportunities at the UOL
Are you pursuing a doctoral degree with a chronic illness or disability and would like support during the challenging time of further academic qualification? Are you taking on family responsibilities during your doctoral studies and looking for guidance and support? The University of Oldenburg offers the following measures to improve work-life balance:

Highlight of the month
Postdoc Appreciation Week 2026!
From 21 to 25 September 2026, universities and research institutions across Germany will be celebrating the achievements of their postdocs with a varied programme, social media campaigns and networking events. The Postdocdelegation of the UOL will participate with a panel discussion on the topic “What next after a PhD? Career paths for postdocs” (in German language, but contributions in English will be very welcome). Three panellists will talk about their paths – or detours – into academia, science management and self-employment. Prof. Dr. Katharina Schuhmann (Tenure Track Professor for Deutsch als Fremdsprache), Dr. Tino Uhlendorf (Startup Coach and Network Building) and Dr. Sabrina Schlachter (self-employed couples and sex therapist) are looking forward to your questions!
