Campus market
The first edition of the campus market was in the summer semester 2024. This year we are entering the third edition. The aim of the campus market is to offer you students an opportunity to buy fresh and regional food on campus. This way, you can save yourself the trip to the supermarket and buy your food directly on campus. You can stroll around the market in a relaxed atmosphere, chat to the traders and also sample some drinks and food.
The date for the summer semester 2026 is Tuesday, 2 June 2026 from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm.
The university canteens
Don't know what to cook and don't have time to cook? Then visit the canteens at the University of Oldenburg. Here you will find a daily selection of fresh and varied dishes that you can combine with various side dishes. Many of the products used are organic (e.g. yoghurt, milk and quark) and the vegetables, salads and potatoes come directly from the region, subject to seasonal availability. The canteens also pay 100% attention to species-appropriate husbandry when purchasing beef and pork. As a small side effect, you can socialise while eating in the canteens.
Meal serving times:
Mensa Uhlhornsweg: 11:30 - 14:15
Mensa Wechloy: 11:30 - 14:00

Fair divider
There is an open-air Fairteiler at the university in co-operation with Foodsharing. The Fairteiler is regularly filled with rescued food by food savers and can also be filled by you with food that you can no longer use. At the same time, you can take a look inside and perhaps find fruit, vegetables or baked goods that you can use for your next dish. Please make sure that you only share food that you would still eat yourself and that does not need to be refrigerated.
Meal prep and recipes
We would like to support you with recipes and habits for a healthy diet.
Meal Planning
On Saturday, for example, you can think about what you want to eat in the coming week. Then write a shopping list with all the food you need and buy it. On Sunday, you can then dedicate yourself to cooking the meals so that you can start the new week on Monday in a relaxed manner.
Tips for shopping and stocking up:
- Only buy what is on the shopping list
- Avoid sweets for the most part (if there's nothing, there's nothing to eat)
- Stock up on non-perishable foods, e.g. wholegrain pasta, wholegrain rice, pulses such as beans, lentils and peas, onions and garlic, frozen vegetables, fruit, tomato purée, spices, oil and seeds, nuts or dried fruit
Meal Prep
The idea of Meal Prep is to cook meals for several days in advance. If you plan well, you can save time and money as there is no need for spontaneous shopping or to-go meals. One-pot dishes and dishes that are easy to reheat, such as stews or casseroles, are ideal.
If you want to take your meal prep to the next level, you can cook several dishes at the same time. It helps if you have tried out the dishes beforehand and have the recipe in your head. The dishes with the longest cooking times should be made at the beginning. If you prepare two or more portions of each dish, you will save additional time.
Storage
Containers such as bowls, tins and jars (with lids) are needed for good storage. Prepared dishes should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge or frozen if they are to be stored for several days. Warm dishes should be reheated to at least 65°C before consumption.

Drinking water dispenser
Are you thirsty and have your own bottle with you? Perfect, because then you fulfil all the requirements for using the new drinking water dispensers at the University of Oldenburg. We have installed two drinking water dispensers on the Haarentor campus and one on the Wechloy campus. Fill up your bottle at any time and watch on the digital display how you contribute to saving plastic water bottles as a side effect.
You can find the exact locations of the drinking water dispensers here:
