Publications and materials for download
As a university collection, the STAK is involved in a wide range of teaching, learning and research projects. There are also regular exhibitions in which collection objects on various topics are shown. Smaller publications or other materials for download are also produced on a regular basis: For example, magazines, zines, dress-up dolls, postcards and much more. Here we give you the opportunity to download the results of this exploration of the STAK, its objects and their biographies. Feel free to browse through them and share your discoveries with us and with other people!
Radio interview on the subject of 'Vintage'
In August, Dr Klara von Lindern gave an interview to the radio station oldenburg eins on the subject of 'vintage'. The conversation with Tim Dickbertel centred on the differences between vintage and retro, the trade in second-hand fashion between trend and sustainability movement and what object biographies have to do with vintage clothing. Traditional costume on display! Student perspectives on the early traditional costume of Schaumburg
In the winter semester 2024/25, students worked together with Dr Klara von Lindern in a project seminar to develop strategies for the (museum) communication of traditional costume. The seminar took place in co-operation with the Museum Bückeburg für Stadtgeschichte und Schaumburg-Lippische Landesgeschichte (Dr Anke Twachtmann-Schlichter / Nadine Werel M.A.) as part of the research project Frühe Schaumburger Tracht: Ein eigener Modekosmos, which was jointly applied for with the Institute of Material Culture and funded by Pro*Niedersachsen. The museum provided original objects for the seminar, which the students used to develop communication approaches and presentation concepts. You can download the results in this magazine.
Clothing history(ies) = University history(ies): 12 collection postcards
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Carl von Ossietzky University, Dr Klara von Lindern and collection staff Veronika Dawydow and Elisa Geisler have designed 12 collection postcards featuring objects from the STAK. Each month, they take an artistic approach to the selected objects and their biographies - an important piece of university history!
Accessories in the STAK: 15 creative object postcards
Accessories are more than just fashion accessories. Students investigated this together with Dr Klara von Lindern as part of a seminar in the summer semester of 2025. Among other things, the focus was on questions about accessories and embodied knowledge, as well as gender attributions. Do accessories have a function or are they purely decorative - and are there also aesthetic-decorative functions? How are buttons made, what do traces on the object tell us about manufacturing and wearing processes and which accessories no longer exist in our everyday lives? What role do animal materials play, why are accessories so suitable as travelling souvenirs and what individual meanings do we ascribe to them? Based on these questions, 15 postcards on accessories from the STAK were created, which deal with them in a creative way.
