The independent trust office(THS) in Oldenburg is another body that offers interfaces and processes for efficient and effective data transfer in compliance with data protection regulations and works closely with the MeDIC-UMO.

A Use and Access Committee of the MeDIC-UMO and the biobank structure will be set up for Oldenburg, comprising members with clinical expertise, scientific expertise, patient representatives, data protection and the MeDIC-UMO. The members include four clinical representatives from the partner hospitals. In the event of positive UAC decisions, the MeDIC-UMO serves as a coordinating and executive body for the processing of utilisation applications and for the agreed provision of data for the researchers.

One of the tasks of a DIZ is the contractually regulated connection to the Research Data Portal for Health (FDPG). This means that researchers (from Oldenburg and other locations) can already submit cross-location queries, which are answered automatically and almost in real time. The applications for use based on the feasibility queries and submitted via the FDPG are reviewed by the local Use and Access Committees (UAC) for the DIZ sites in accordance with the overarching usage regulations for the use of patient data, biosamples, analysis methods and routines within the framework of the MII (see Usage regulations | MII).
