The continuation of an existing course, if requested by the student, naturally takes precedence over the wishes of new students.

The choice of instrumental teachers is free within the framework of the places then available. It is possible to change teachers at your own discretion. However, you should think carefully about whether a change makes sense. In instrumental lessons, longer phases of getting to know the teacher or pupil are often necessary before a collaboration really works well. Changing teachers too quickly also prevents such intensive co-operation.

Some teachers have very few free places. For them, distribution is usually organised via waiting lists. It is advisable to make contact with them at an early stage in order to secure a place. If there are longer waiting periods, you may need to ask again in later semesters to see if a place has become available.

Criticism of the teacher

If you criticise the teaching content or methods, please do not simply switch to another teacher in silence, but inform the previous teacher of the criticism. Serious points of criticism can and should of course also be discussed with Gereon Voß, the student representatives on the institute council, possibly other teachers or the Equal Opportunities Officer Christiane Abt.
