‘Hello World 2.0 – Shadows of the Light’is an original SPACE OPERA and the result of the musical theatre project ÜBERIRDISCH at the University of Oldenburg, in co-operation with the Bluescreen Ensemble. The play centres on the tech empire of the all-powerful Lux, who is idolised throughout the universe and uses her cutting-edge technology to influence solar systems. As a result, Lux makes an underground rebellion her enemy and becomes embroiled in intrigue, betrayal and theft.

Big band

Swing, modern jazz and Latin American music will resound at the University of Oldenburg on Friday, 10 July 2026, when the university big band takes to the stage again. The final concert at the end of the semester under the direction of Christian Kappe starts at 8.00 pm in the university auditorium (admission from 7.30 pm, building A11, Ammerländer Heerstraße 69, Oldenburg). In addition to swing, bossa, samba and funk, the jazz orchestra's current repertoire also includes contemporary jazz. Both vocal and instrumental pieces such as Bob-Omb Battlefield (Super Mario 64), music by Djavan, Bob Mintzer, Gordon Goodwin, Jacob Mann and music from the Threepenny Opera are among the highlights of the evening. Tickets cost 12 euros (concessions 6 euros) and are only available at the box office. The music student body will be offering drinks in the foyer.
