More than 50 participants from countries including South Africa and Tanzania are expected to attend a two-day industry workshop on business informatics on 18 and 19 September at the PFL cultural centre in Oldenburg. Interested parties can still register.
The workshop is part of the international project "Developing and Strengthening Industry-driven Knowledge-transfer between developing Countries" (DASIK), which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). DASIK aims to promote knowledge transfer in business informatics in South and East Africa and promote co-operation between universities and IT companies. Prof. Dr Jorge Marx Gómez, Professor of Information Systems at the university and DASIK project coordinator, is organising the workshop together with ecco ecology + communication Unternehmensberatung GmbH (ecco).
Participants from German and African companies and universities will discuss the constantly changing requirements of the IT sector. Seminars and presentations will be held to consolidate existing co-operation between Germany and Africa - especially South Africa - as well as to develop new opportunities for cooperation. There will also be the opportunity to initiate new project ideas. ecco is organising a "Business-Science-Speed-Dating" on the second day, where scientists and representatives from the business world can discuss IT-relevant issues. Speakers include Prof Dr Bernd Siebenhüner, Vice President for Young Scientists and Quality Management at the University, Silke Meyn, First City Councillor of Oldenburg, Ursula Hardenbicker, Head of Department at the DAAD and Roland Hentschel, Head of Regional Development / International Relations at the City of Oldenburg.
Participation in the event is free of charge - please register via the project website www.dasik.org.
