Richard-Balthasar von Busse took over the management of Schlaues Haus gGmbh on 1 February. The shareholders, the University of Oldenburg and Jade University of Applied Sciences, appointed von Busse at their most recent meeting.
Von Busse succeeds Dr Petra Buchholz, who has managed the business since 2012 and whose contract ended as agreed on 31 January. She will be available as an advisor during the transition period.
University President Prof Dr Babette Simon and Dr Elmar Schreiber, President of Jade University, were delighted with the appointment. In Richard-Balthasar von Busse, the university has gained an excellently networked and experienced personality. At the same time, they thanked the previous Managing Director Buchholz, who will in future devote herself fully to managing the Start-up and Innovation Centre (GIZ) at the University of Oldenburg. "Ms Buchholz successfully completed the construction of the Smart House, ensured that it opened on schedule in autumn 2012 and managed the project with aplomb - even in difficult times," explained Simon. Both partners emphasised that it was thanks to Buchholz that the Schlaues Haus event programme had enjoyed strong demand within a short space of time.
Von Busse completed a banking apprenticeship and studied Law in Göttingen and Bonn. He continued his academic appointment at Dresdner Bank, where he managed the credit department in the Milan branch and worked as a representative in Rome from 1988 to 1992. He then returned to Germany, where he managed the branch in Kiel, among other things, and also took over the management of corporate customers in Schleswig-Holstein from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 until his retirement in 2007, he was responsible for the management of the corporate clients division at Bremer Landesbank Kreditanstalt Oldenburg. Von Busse holds numerous mandates. For example, he is acting chairman of the board of Präventionsrat Oldenburg e.V. and a board member of Oldenburger Landesverein e.V..
