Experimentation is one of the key ways of gaining an understanding of physical phenomena and their causes. Experimenting means asking the right questions, formulating hypotheses and testing them. The physiXS student laboratory offers pupils a stimulating, physics-focused learning environment tailored to their interests and learning needs.

However, physiXS also provides a diverse learning environment for students training to become physics and General Studies teachers. Here, trainee teachers get to know pupils through their thinking, exploration and learning processes. They develop their diagnostic skills and also see the seemingly familiar subject content in a new light – namely through the eyes of the pupils.

At the same time, physiXS serves as a research laboratory where a wide range of physics education issues relating to teacher professional development are investigated.
