Abitur G8/G9
Abitur G8/G9 - Welcome!
Dear school leavers,
After eight or nine years at grammar school, you will be taking your Abitur this year. You are hearing and reading a lot in the media about "G8/G9", about the "double Abitur year" and perhaps also about the fact that there may be a shortage of university places. We would like to allay these concerns - at the Institute of Physics in Oldenburg we have taken precautions!
If you want to study physics, either to become a physicist or a physics teacher, then come and see us. We started preparing for the double A-level cohort some time ago. That's why we can guarantee you
- A preliminary course in maths with small practice groups in which you can refresh or expand your knowledge of maths before the start of the winter semester.
- Physics lectures of a manageable size with interesting and exciting live experiments.
- Exercises to consolidate the lecture material in effective small groups.
- Experimentation in small groups in modern, well-equipped internships under the supervision of dedicated teachers and tutors.
- Early and close contact with scientists at the Institute.
- Very good IT infrastructure, free access to the university's WLAN and to modern hardware and software.
- Dedicated students in the physics student body who offer you help with the organisation of your studies and much more.
- Early insight into modern research areas in physics, such as ultrafast nano-optics, regenerative energies, medical physics, cosmology, solid-state physics and many more.
- Exclusive use of your tuition fees to improve teaching, especially for the expansion and modernisation of lecture experiments and internships and for the financing of student tutors.
