Until 1989: Studied teaching and law at the University of Bremen
1989: Assessor examination in Bremen
1990-1997: Scientific activities in research projects, including at the Centre for Social Policy at the University of Bremen and at the Hamburg School of Economics and Politics
1997-2002: Research and teaching assistant at the Chair of Labour Law (Prof. Dr. Blanke) at the Law Department of the University of Oldenburg
2002-2005: Conducting international comparative research projects on changes in labour law collective bargaining systems (Prof. Dr. Blanke)
2005: Doctorate (Dr. jur.) in the School II of the University of Oldenburg
2006-2009: Collaboration in the DFG-funded research project "Mobile Commerce and Law" - McLaw (Head: Prof. Dr Taeger)
