The CD by Gregor Scheja and Nils Christian Haag provides a good introduction to data protection law thanks to its easy-to-understand presentation. The overview of the subject matter and development of data protection in national and European law is followed by a discussion of the authorisation regulations for the use of personal data, which is the main focus of the work. The reader is then familiarised with the rights of the data subject and the sanctions against the infringer in the event of a data protection breach. In addition to the position of the company data protection officer, the special areas of video surveillance, cross-border data traffic and data protection on the Internet are dealt with separately.
