Else Kröner-Fresenius Symposium: Research meets Clinic meets Research

On 19 June 2026, the Else Kröner Symposium will take place at the PFL Cultural Centre in Oldenburg under the motto ‘Research meets Clinic meets Research’. With a focus on translational research, researchers from School V - School of Medicine and Health Sciences at all career stages will have the opportunity to present themselves and their research and to network across departments and disciplines.
In addition to keynote speeches, presentations and a poster session, there will also be exciting workshops and other activities.

Objectives

The Else Kröner Symposium aims to create a central platform for promoting networking, visibility and scientific exchange – particularly for researchers working at the interface between clinical practice and research. A key objective is to strengthen collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue across different career stages and research fields – from early-career researchers to established researchers. This creates opportunities for personal networking and contact with individuals who can serve as role models.
The symposium is intended to act as a catalyst for the visibility and networking of clinical researchers and the translation of knowledge into clinical practice. In this way, bridges can be built between basic, clinical, translational and healthcare research, and collaboration between the participating UMO institutions can be strengthened.

Target audience

The event is aimed at researchers at University Medicine Oldenburg working in the fields of healthcare, medical and paramedical basic sciences, and health services research. It is open to all career stages – from students interested in research, PhD candidates and postdocs, including in particular clinician scientists, junior clinician scientists and medical scientists, right through to established research group leaders and professors.
