Regulations for the extension subject (third subject)
The study of a so-called extension subject corresponds to the study of a third subject in the teaching profession. The credit points to be earned vary depending on the type of school.
Admission to an extension subject is possible for students who are enrolled in the Master of Education programme (only applies to students at the University of Oldenburg or the University of Bremen) or for graduates of a teacher training programme.
For ALL students of an extension subject, a tuition fee of 150.00 euros per semester must be paid in addition to the semester fees.
Prospective students who would like to study an extension subject
Admission to an extension subject is only possible if you are enrolled in the Master of Education or have completed a teacher training programme. The earliest possible application is possible at the same time as an application for the Master of Education.
The following application modalities apply:
- Application is only possible for the winter semester
- Only school-related subjects are possible
- Subordinate admission opportunities apply for subjects with admission restrictions
- The subject-specific admission requirements (entrance examination, proof of language skills, etc.) must be fulfilled
- The co-operation subjects French, Geography and Spanish cannot be chosen as an extension subject
Application for an extension subject is possible online from 1 June to 15 October.
Legal matters
As this is an additional study programme in accordance with Section 13 III of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act, the study of an extension subject is subject to fees(Fee Schedule for Extension Examinations).
