Module 3 – Elective module 3.3
Navigating everyday university life with greater clarity, composure and flexibility
Do you recognise that feeling of your working day starting before you’ve even properly settled in? Unplanned requests, high expectations and the pressure to juggle everything characterise the daily lives of many university lecturers. Juggling teaching, research, administration and last-minute demands often leaves little room for your own needs, for focus, tranquillity and sustained energy.
This workshop invites you to pause, consciously reflect on how you manage your time and personal resources, and discover new, balanced approaches to your daily work. The focus here is not so much on improving your time management, but rather on how you can remain capable of taking action even amidst changing demands, maintain your boundaries and strengthen your own resilience (mental resilience).
Key topics:
- Becoming aware of where your time and energy are actually going
- Clarifying goals and priorities to maintain your bearings and inner stability even under pressure
- Reflecting on previous time management strategies
- Identifying individual sources of stress and time-wasters and effectively limiting them
- Protecting your own boundaries amidst the tension between expectations, hierarchies and your own standards
- Saying ‘no’ without straining relationships
- Question your own internal expectations and find ways to let go of perfectionism
- Strengthen resilience in a higher education context and develop individual strategies for a demanding working day
In a supportive and practical working environment, you will gain new insights, have space for self-reflection and engage in collegial discussion. The aim is to find a healthy balance between agility and stability in everyday university life, so that you can approach your tasks with greater composure, joy and inner strength.
