Questions on examination matters

How should test results for the environmental science research project mar420 be reported?

The results for the module mar420 should be reported to the examination office by e-mail or module certificate.

How are courses and modules from other degree programs in Germany and abroad recognized?

According to the PO of 9/2023, 6 CP can be freely selected from the admission-free Master's program or the Language Center. No recognition by the Examination Board is required for this On application, up to 30 CPs can be recognized. The application is submitted by the student to the examination board (chairperson). The latter reports to the Examination Office.

How is the registration and deregistration period for examinations generally handled? Can the
the default deadline of one week generally be changed/shortened?

There are no regulations on this in the examination regulations for the Master's degree programs. The registration deadline can be set individually up to one day before the examination date.

How can individual cases that have missed the registration deadline be dealt with?

Registration for the repeat date

or

the examination is reopened for all students (principle of equal opportunities and fair procedure).

If a student has mistakenly taken the examination without registering, this must be accepted and the registration will be made retrospectively by the Examinations Office. Subsequent registration takes place via the University of Oldenburg's e-mail address or by means of a module certificate.

Is it possible for examiners to be informed accordingly by the Examination Office in the event of late registrations?

If the registration deadline has expired, students will be informed by the examination office that they should contact the respective lecturer. No students will be re-registered by the examination office without authorization.
If the deadline expires on Friday, it is possible that students who registered on Friday will be re-registered by the Examinations Office on Monday. Teachers should be informed about these late registrations in the future.

Can students who have not registered be admitted by the examiner and how can the grade then be subsequently registered?

The question refers in particular to students from degree programs for which the respective module is not activated and who cannot register themselves

The students concerned must contact the Examinations Office directly. The following information is required: Module name, module abbreviation, examination date, examiner, examination number if applicable. The number of CPs will be adjusted by the Examinations Office afterwards if there are differences in the degree programs/modules.
The grade is reported via the e-mail address of the University of Oldenburg or by means of a module certificate.

Can several examination numbers be assigned or can several teachers be assigned to the same examination?

Several examinations can be created per module. However, only one first examiner and one second examiner are possible per exam. If the examination regulations only provide for one examination, it is only possible to register for one examination.

How can active participation be mapped for modules?

Active participation is regulated internally by the respective lecturer. One possibility via Stud.IP is the "Gradebook", which can be accessed in the respective course under: Administration -> Tools.

Where should the minutes of oral examinations be kept? How should minutes be handled in the future?

The minutes should not be sent to the Examination Office and the University's archiving periods apply.

Are defenses of Master's theses defined as oral examinations? How is this regulated? Are minutes required? Can the grade of the defense be noted on the report?

The examination regulations for Master's degree programs §21 para. 9-10 define this performance as a "final oral colloquium".
Deviating regulations are possible through subject-specific examination regulations. Minutes should always be taken for oral examinations. In principle, it can be noted on the report that the final colloquium took place, stating the date and the grade.

How is the supervision of theses by external and non-university lecturers approved?

Yes, but in the case of an external reviewer, the second reviewer must be a university lecturer from the relevant degree program at the University of Oldenburg (see MPO §21 para. 2).

Who recognizes foreign certificates, e.g. for scholarships?

Currently (as of 28.02.2024), the area of responsibility lies with the Department of Studies and Teaching.
