            The series of SUMM Construction Workshops contain presentations of scientific approaches to ensure model consistency using projectional approaches. Base of all these approaches is a Single Underlying Model conforming to a Single Underlying Metamodel. How to create and use such projectional SUMM approaches is different in all approaches. Therefore, this workshops aims to present different approaches, to discuss commonalities and differences, and to agree on common follow-up activities.

            This forth workshop is located in Mannheim.

          • 2nd SUMM Construction Workshop: Karlsruhe

            07.-08. June 2018

            The series of SUMM Construction Workshops contain presentations of scientific approaches to ensure model consistency using projectional approaches. Base of all these approaches is a Single Underlying Model conforming to a Single Underlying Metamodel. How to create and use such projectional SUMM approaches is different in all approaches. Therefore, this workshops aims to present different approaches, to discuss commonalities and differences, and to agree on common follow-up activities.

            This second workshop was located in Karlsruhe and was organized by the KIT. After summarizing the ideas of three different approaches (Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Oldenburg) and presenting new results since the last workshop, the joint paper was discussed and its structure was improved. Johannes Meier and Andreas Winter of the Software Engineering Group of the University of Oldenburg joined this workshop and presented new ideas for the SUMM construction approach of Johannes' PhD thesis. The guest researcher Anca Ionita joined the workshop, too.

            The series of SUMM Construction Workshops contain presentations of scientific approaches to ensure model consistency using projectional approaches. Base of all these approaches is a Single Underlying Model conforming to a Single Underlying Metamodel. How to create and use such projectional SUMM approaches is different in all approaches. Therefore, this workshops aims to present different approaches, to discuss commonalities and differences, and to agree on common follow-up activities.

            This first workshop was located in Karlsruhe and was organized by the KIT. After presenting and discussing the ideas of three different approaches (Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Oldenburg), there was an agreement to write a joint paper aiming to present and compare these approaches. Johannes Meier and Andreas Winter of the Software Engineering Group of the University of Oldenburg joined this workshop and presented the SUMM construction approach of Johannes' PhD thesis.

          • 20. Workshop Software-Reengineering und -Evolution (WSRE)

            02. - 04. Mai 2018 Die Workshops Software-Reengineering und Evolution (WSRE) im Physikzentrum Bad Honnef wurden mit dem ersten WSR 1999 von Jürgen Ebert und Franz Lehner ins Leben gerufen, um neben den erfolgreichen internationalen Tagungen im Bereich Reengineering (CSMR, ICSM, IWPC, WCRE, etc.) auch ein deutschsprachiges Diskussionsforum zu schaffen.

            Software-Evolution zur Erhaltung von Nutzen und Wert großer Software-Systeme unter sich ständig ändernden Anforderungen und Umgebungsbedingungen ist ein Kernaspekt für Software-Hersteller und -Nutzer und die Informatik-Forschung. Der Fokus der WSR-Workshops hat sich neben dem "klassischen" Reengineering auch auf das Gebiet der Evolution hin erweitert. Der Begriff "Evolution" wurde daher mit dem 16. WSRE in den Workshop-Titel übernommen, um diesem wichtigen Thema Rechnung zu tragen.

            Ziel der Treffen ist es, einander kennen zu lernen und auf diesem Wege auch eine Basis für Kooperation zu schaffen, sodass im Themengebiet weitere Fortschritte erzielt werden können.

            Inzwischen hat sich der Workshop Software-Reengineering und Evolution, der als Low-Cost-Workshop ohne eigenes Budget durchgeführt wird, als zentrale deutschsprachige Reengineering-Konferenz etabliert. Der WSRE hat auch maßgeblich zur Bildung der deutschsprachigen Reengineering-Community beigetragen und bildet die Keimzelle der GI-Fachgruppe Software-Reengineering.

            Die Abteilung Softwaretechnik ist aktiv in der Fachgruppe Software-Reengineering (SRE) der Gesellschaft für Informatik vertreten. In diesem Jahr feiert der Workshop sein 20. Jubiläum vom 02.-04. Mai 2018. Johannes Meier von der Abteilung Softwaretechnik stellt sein Paper "Towards Evolution Scenarios of Integrated Software Artifacts" (Co-Autor Andreas Winter) im Rahmen des Workshops vor (das Programm des WSR). Außerdem stellt Muhammed Altuntas sein Paper "Software-Migration nach HANA" vor (Co-Autoren Rebecca Engelhardt und Andreas Winter).

          • International Scientific-Practical and Spiritual-Educational Conference 2018 in Uzbekistan

            On 05. – 06. April 2018 the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khorazmiy organized an international scientific-practical and spiritual-educational conference to explore the importance of information and communication technologies in the innovative development of real sectors of the economy during the anniversary of the birth of Muhammad al-Khorazmiy. The Software Engineering representative, Dilshodbek Kuryazov participated in the conference and gave a presentation regarding smart modelling. The paper submitted by the software engineering group (authors: Dilshod Kuryazov, Andreas Winter and Christian Schöneberg) has won the best paper awards at the conference.

            20 professors from 10 countries of the world participated in the conference. During the conference, issues related to the role of information and communication technologies in the development of industries, prospects for innovative development of real sectors of the economy were discussed, a number of proposals were suggested. In addition, the conference discussed the prospects for the development of telecommunications systems, digital television, radio, wireless technology and radio engineering.           • 10. BUIS Tage 2018. Smart Cities / Regions: Technische, wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Innovationen

            24. – 25. Mai 2018 Die 10. BUIS Tage 2018 werden vom Zentrum für Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeitsforschung COAST der Universität Oldenburg in Kooperation mit der FG-BUIS in der Gesellschaft für Informatik organisiert. Im Mittelpunkt stehen „smarte“ Städte und Regionen. Die nachhaltige Entwicklung solcher Strukturen sind dabei nicht nur auf einzelne Aspekte beschränkt – das Zusammenwirken ist entscheidend. Die Konferenz wird dazu innovative Methoden und Konzepte im Zusammenspiel von Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft präsentieren.

          • Firmenvorträge zum Thema Software-Engineering durch die Firma Ferchau

            18.05.2016, 16:00 Uhr, A3 2-209 Vortrag für Bachelor-Studierende: Projektplanung (Softwareentwicklungsprojekte sind häufig ein sehr dynamischer Vorgang, der ständigen Monitorings bedarf. Neben den vielen Methoden, gibt es eine Menge anderer Faktoren, die in den Prozess mit einspielen. Viele Projektmanager sind selbst operativ sehr eng im Projekt involviert und sich somit auch thematisch voreingenommen der Projektplanung widmen. Dies hat schließlich auch Einfluss auf das Softwaredesign, die Architektur, die Tests und so weiter, was anhand eines eingebetteten Linux Systems beispielhaft gezeigt und verdeutlicht wird. Dabei wird auch auf Probleme eingegangen, wie das Integrieren von externen Software-Komponenten, das Einbinden von Hardware-nahen / -spezifischen Funktionalitäten sowie Methoden zum Testen.)

          • EnviroInfo2014

            January 7, 2014 EnviroInfo2014 is the 28th edition of a long standing and established international and interdisciplinary conference series on leading environmental information and communication technologies. Combining and shaping national and international activities in the field of applied informatics and environmental informatics in making the world a better place for living, the EnviroInfo conference series aims at presenting and discussing the latest state-of-the-art development on ICT and environmental related fields.

            Under the supervision of the the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg the 28th EnviroInfo conference will discuss the special topic of ICT for energy efficiency as main conference theme as well as the whole range of cross-cutting topics in ICT and environmental sciences.

            As the EnviroInfo conference series tries to strengthen the interdisciplinary activities in the fields of sustainable development, participants from industry, higher education and research institutes will be invited to exchange ideas and solutions for current and future problems.

          • DASIK Module on "Mobile Computing"

            4th December 2013

            From the 2nd to 6th December 2013 the third DASIK Module with its topic "Mobile Computing" is carried out at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Participants from South African companies such as Aspen Pharmacare, BranSystems, Business Connexion, Creative IT, SYSPRO, UTi Worldwide and Volkswagen Group South Africa as well as students from NMMU, Rhodes University, University of Cape Town and of the Free State learn about the development of mobile applications. In detail, the participants are getting an insight what are the main concepts with regards to UI design, agile software engineering and hands-on app development. The course incorporates groups from Software Engineering and Business Informatics to enforce a transfer of knowledge on engineering software systems to enable sustainable development of practical applications. Besides the theoretical concepts in mobile computing the participants are developing a WildlifeAfrica-application in Android. The one week course is conducted by Prof. Dr. Janet Wesson and Dr. Lester Cowley (Computing Science, NMMU) together with colleagues from University of Oldenburg, Germany Prof. Dr. Andreas Winter (Software Engineering Group) and Dirk Peters (Business Information Systems, VLBA). Furthermore guest lecturers from IBM, Microsoft and SYSPRO talk about their software products and future directions in the field of mobile computing.

          • Marie-Christin Ostendorp received CONTACT Price 2012

            Marie-Christin Ostendorps bachelors thesis on "Software Visualization Services" which was done in the software-engineering group at Carl von Ossietzky University, Oldenburg, was awarded with a CONTACT price 2012.
            Together with Malin Gandor, who was awarded for her Masters thesis, entitled "Optimierte Steuerung elektrischer Erzeuger und Verbraucher zur Wahrung der Versorgungsqualität in Verteilnetzen" she received the price on November 23, 2012 during graduation by Dr. Roland Drewinsk (CONTACT Software GmbH, member of board).

            Die CONTACT Software GmbH schreibt zusammen mit dem Fachbereich Mathematik/Informatik der Universität Bremen, dem Department für Informatik der Universität Oldenburg und dem OFFIS-TZI e. V. den Software-Förderpreis für das Jahr 2012 aus. Der Preis ist mit 5.000 EUR für die beste Arbeit, mit 3.000 EUR für die zweitbeste und 2.000 EUR für die drittbeste Arbeit dotiert.

            Die Ausschreibung wendet sich an Diplomandinnen, Diplomanden und Master-Studierende des Fachbereichs Mathematik/Informatik der Universität Bremen und des Department für Informatik der Universität Oldenburg. Der Förderpreis zeichnet hervorragende Leistungen in der Praktischen Informatik aus. Hierzu gehören auch wissenschaftliche Methoden zur Entwicklung neuartiger Benutzungsschnittstellen, neuer Algorithmen für das Information Retrieval und innovativer Architekturen für Informationssysteme.

          • Hochschulübergreifendes Blockseminar zu Software-Analyse und Transformation

            Verfahren zur Analyse von Software-Systemen dienen insbesondere zur Software-Qualitätssicherung. Im hochschulübergreifenden Blockseminar,das gemeinsam von Prof. Dr. Rainer Koschke (Universität Bremen), Prof. Dr. Sibylle Schupp (TU Hamburg-Harburg) und Prof. Dr. Andreas Winter (Universität Oldenburg) durchgeführt wird, wurden verschiedene Methoden und Verfahren zur Analyse von Modellen und Programmen vorgestellt und diskutiert. Den Studierenden wurde die Gelegenheit gegeben, ihr Wissen in direktem Austausch mit Studierenden und Hochschullehrern verschiedener Universitäten unter Beweis zu stellen.
