Semester Ticket Reimbursement

Semester Ticket Reimbursement in Case of Disability or Illness

Under certain circumstances (see below), your semester ticket fee can be refunded in full or in part due to a disability or illness.

Deadlines for applications:

Summer semester: 15.05.

Winter semester: 15.11.

or one month after the application requirements have been met

Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit an application covering several semesters.

Send your application and the relevant documents by e-mail to beref@uol.de or by post to: Autonomous Department for Disabled and Chronically Ill Students in the AStA of the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg, Uhlhornsweg 49 - 55, 26111 Oldenburg

Semester Ticket Reimbursement due to a Disability

You can apply for a (partial) refund of the semester ticket fee due to a disability. You will need the following documents for an application (receipts usually as a copy or scan):

  • Completed application form - you can download the form here: SeTi application
  • Certificate of enrolment for the semester of application
  • Severely disabled person's ID (both pages, copy) with the "G" or "aG" or token for free public transport (§ 59 Paragraph 1 Sentences 1 and 2 SchwbG)
  • Copy of CampusCard

Severely disabled persons who are entitled to transport according to the Social Security Code IX and who can prove that they are in possession of the supplementary certificate with the corresponding token or who cannot use public transport or can use it free of charge (G or aG) due to their disability are excluded from the obligation to purchase the semester ticket.

You meet these requirements if you have

  • a severely disabled pass (half green, half orange) with at least one of the marks G, aG, H
  • severely disabled person's identity card and the supplement to the severely disabled person's identity card (token for free public transport (§ 59 paragraph 1 sentences 1 and 2 SchwbG)).

If your severely disabled pass only shows one of the signs G or Gl and you claim a reduction in vehicle tax, you will not receive the supplement to the severely disabled pass. Unfortunately, this does not allow you to receive a refund of the semester ticket fee.

The B mark alone is not sufficient reason for a refund of the semester ticket fee.

Equality with severely disabled persons under labour law is not a reason for which you could receive a refund of the semester ticket fee.

Semester Ticket Refund due to Illness

You can apply for a (partial) refund of the semester ticket fee due to illness if you cannot or could not use public transport for at least 120 days in the semester due to this illness, or if you could not attend the university for at least 120 days in the semester. Depending on how long these conditions apply or applied, the (partial) amount that you can be reimbursed is calculated. You will need the following documents for your application (copies or scans of supporting documents are sufficient):

  • Completed application form - you can download the form here: SeTi application form
  • Certificate of enrolment for the semester of application
  • Medical certificate or confirmation from the hospital or similar, showing for how many days in the application semester (at least 120 days) you cannot or could not use public transport or you are not or were not able to visit the university.

You will be reimbursed for the semester ticket fee for the period of your illness. This means that if you were ill for the entire semester, you will also be reimbursed for the entire semester ticket fee; if you were only ill for part of the semester, the reimbursed amount will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
