In 2025, the Cross-Border Institute of Healthcare Systems and Prevention (CBI) launched the Health4DE-NL project, supported by the Interreg VI Germany–Netherlands programme, the European Union, the Niedersächsische Staatskanzlei, and the provinces of Groningen and Fryslân. With a total budget of €3.2 million and a duration until the end of 2029, the project aims to strengthen cross-border healthcare cooperation and contribute to more healthy years in the German-Dutch border region.
The first project year focused on building a strong foundation for collaboration. The CBI expanded the project team, connected healthcare stakeholders, researchers, experts, and policymakers across borders and introduced the project at regional, national, and European level. A major milestone was the first symposium on cross-border healthcare in the German-Dutch border region, which also marked the official launch of the project. The project also took its first steps in connecting with citizens by organizing science cafés that created opportunities for dialogue and public engagement around cross-border healthcare.
The annual report provides an overview of the activities and progress achieved during this first year and highlights how the community is taking shape. Please find it via the Health4DE-NL website.
