Participation
The participation of university members and other interest groups is a relevant component of climate protection and sustainability work at the University of Oldenburg. The climate protection management team offers specific opportunities for interested parties to get involved, such as the Green Team and the Sustainability Sounding Board.
Green Team
An increasing number of university members are interested in getting involved in specific sustainability projects on campus. In order to reach and involve these people in a targeted manner, the Climate Protection Management offers a so-called "Green Team". This is a non-binding mailing list whose subscribers are regularly contacted and invited to participate in smaller, tangible projects (e.g. providing nesting boxes on campus). In addition, the Green Team serves as a networking platform so that interested parties can find other supporters for their own projects and, if necessary, implement them independently. There is a direct link to climate protection management and financial support is possible via the sustainability program line. The Green Team is supervised by the Climate Protection Management.

Sustainability Sounding Board
A Sustainability Sounding Board will be set up at the UOL for the summer semester 2025. The board will present the current and planned activities on the topic of sustainability at the University of Oldenburg. Topic-specific discussion impulses will also be offered. Participants can also ask questions and make suggestions in this context. The Board initially meets once a semester and is open to all members of the university. The meetings will be open to the university public.
The date for the first meeting has already been set:

Climate-neutral university working group (2021-2024)
The Climate Neutral University working group was founded in spring 2020 to work out how the university can move towards climate neutrality. The working group initiated the application for the Integrated Climate Protection Concept project and closely monitored the process of developing the concept as a steering group. The working group was an important sounding board for the work of the climate protection manager in order to discuss the procedure and the progress of the project with the members of the various status groups. In addition to the Executive Board, all status groups were represented in the working group. The working group was dissolved in November 2024 in favor of new participation formats.
