Public Climate School

Public Climate School

The University of Oldenburg is active in a variety of ways with regard to sustainability and climate protection and consciously fulfils its role model function for the region and society. Aspects of understanding the climate system and sustainable solutions in climate protection and adaptation are the subject of various courses throughout the university.

As part of this year's Public Climate School, many lecturers at colleges and universities across Germany are once again dedicating themselves to education for sustainable development from 7-11 November 2022. Including the University of Oldenburg. Students, lecturers and/or researchers at the university are helping to shape the Public Climate School at the University of Oldenburg, for example by adapting their courses accordingly during this week.

NATIONWIDE CAMPAIGNS:

The nationwide university programme takes place on the afternoons of the PCS week and is available free of charge and without registration via a livestream.

If you would like to help shape the digital, nationwide programme, you can upload a short video on the "Climate & Departments" format on the Public Climate School website.

LOCAL PROGRAMME:

The Students4Future in Oldenburg are once again organising a local presence programme this semester.

IN THE LISTENING ROOM:

Students, lecturers and/or researchers at the university are helping to shape the Public Climate School at the University of Oldenburg, for example by adapting your lectures accordingly this week.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

The university's Start-up and Innovation Centre (GIZ) is cooperating with the Green Business Challenge during the PCS week. Over 5 days, the participants will travel to 5 different cities in the Ems-Dollard region (Leeuwarden, Emmen, Papenburg, Oldenburg, Groningen) in a sustainable way and develop solutions to the challenges given to them by the cooperating companies in the region. All challenges deal with the green economy, this year focussing on the circular economy, biobased and circular product design, biocomposites, green chemistry and climate change.

An exciting podcast on the topic of climate communication was created as part of a practical project.

The podcast is available everywhere, e.g. on Spotify, Apple Podcast or the university website https://uol.de/klimaschutz-nachhaltigkeit/nachhaltigkeit-in-der-lehre.

There is also an Instagram account, where all other platforms are also linked.
