Exchange programmes for students of English
As part of formal exchange agreements the University of Oldenburg has exchange agreements with a number of countries outside the European Union/the European continent. The key options for students of English are listed below.
Please note that all exchange programmes for these countries are run through the International Office and NOT through the English department! The IO is also responsible for the application process.

USA / Canada
We have a number of exchange agreements with the US and one or two with Canada. Some involve a direct exchange; others require the payment of fees.
Details about the partner universities and application materials are available here.
Exchanges for both a semester and a year are available. Please note that stays in the US need to be planned at least a year in advance. As a general rule, places are advertised between mid-October and late November 28 for stays in America commencing the following August and later.

Africa (esp. South Africa)
See this link for details and application materials. Some agreements involve direct exchanges; others require the payment of fees and are particularly appealing for BAföG recipients.

Australia and New Zealand
See this link for details and application materials. Some agreements involve direct exchanges; others require the payment of fees at a reduced rate. Please note that travel costs for Australia are (obviously) higher, and that the academic year runs from February/March to December. Application deadlines are usually in July for study the following year (February).

There are no direct exchanges with New Zealand. See the aforementioned link for information about organizing a stay abroad independently.
