Work Experience During Your Studies

The focus is on individual advice and support for undertaking extracurricular internships, covering both the preparatory phase (defining areas of interest, providing an overview of regional internship opportunities, etc.) and the follow-up phase (implications for further academic and career planning, acquisition of necessary qualifications, etc.). The establishment and maintenance of an internship exchange facilitates access to internship placements and provides an overview of regional opportunities. Furthermore, through dialogue between the professional field and regional employers, information regarding internships or even jobs is brought directly to the students.

Individual counselling can also provide an opportunity to discuss subject-specific job-search strategies and the conditions and opportunities on the labour market in selected professional fields during a personal consultation.

Programme of events

Each semester, a special programme of events is organised, which is specifically designed to help students acquire additional qualifications and ‘key competencies’, whilst also offering a wide range of other activities. These events take place outside the regular curriculum and can be attended by students on an optional basis. Credit points cannot be awarded for these events, but a certificate is issued for participation in workshops.

Many events are organised at the students’ request. In addition to workshops on public speaking or facilitation, these include introductions to Business Administration as well as lectures by professional organisations on their specific practical work. The annual programme of so-called practice forums promotes exchange between students and graduates already in the workforce, whilst ensuring the establishment and strengthening of contacts with regional organisations and institutions. The events also help to provide information on current conditions and requirements in the labour market, as well as highlighting traditional and ‘new’ fields of work for (special needs/rehabilitation) educators and social scientists. In this way, concrete career prospects can be opened up, and a connection to and exchange with the professional world can be established.
