We are home to Wechloy Campus at the University of Oldenburg in section “W1 – Mathematik”.
In Oldenburg - the cycling capital of Germany[source] – and especially in times of climate change, transportation of choice obviously is the bicycle.
While the Haarentor Campus is fairly easy to reach and find, conveniently located at the intersection of Ammerlander Heerstraße and Uhlhornsweg, the Wechloy Campus is hidden a little to the west.
If you come from the city centre or anywhere between the city center and Dietrichsfeld, first head to Ammerländer Heerstraße and follow it in north western direction until you reach the Haarentor Campus.
Pass the campus and continue on Ammerländer Heerstraße. Behind the supermarket on the right side turn left into Drögen-Hasen-Weg. Pass the street “Hartenscher Damm” to the left. This is followed by beach volleyball courts to the right and just behind these there is a small bricked path, which will lead you directly to the side of the main building. Here you can find many big cycle racks and a big side entrance to the foyer.
If come from a southern direction, find your way to Bloherfelder Straße. Next to a supermarket turn north into the street “Hartenscher Damm”. At the end of this street turn left into the Drögen-Hasen-Weg. After just a few meters there are beach volleyball courts and just behind these there is a small bricked path, which will lead you directly to the side of the main building. Here you can find many big cycle racks and a big side entrance to the foyer.
If you come from a north western direction, ride on Ammerländer Heerstraße in southern direction. When you will find yourself at an intersection with a big department store, turn right into Küpkersweg and follow it until you cross some rails. About a 100 m afterwards there will be a big white building to your right (W32) and just behind he building there is a small bricked path to the left. It will lead you directly to the inner yard of the campus, where you can find cycle racks all around. Where the windows reach to the ground you will find the entrance to the foyer.
There a many places at the Wechloy Campus, where you can leave your bicycle. On this map we marked the biggest and most important ones in blue: Around the main entrance, at the side entrance next to the mathematics section, in the inner yard, in front of W32, in front of the physics section and in front of W16a.
If you feel adventurous, try following shortcut between Campus Haarentor and Campus Wechloy.:
Leave the Wechloy Campus to the left on the Drögen-Hasen-Weg south of the sport yard. Follow it heading to Ammerländer Heerstraße, but pay intention after the intersection with Grotepool: On the right side there is a path between driveways. It is sided by two tall wooden fences. Turn into this path and you will find yourself between trees shortly. Leave this small forest via the bridge (Caution: this bridge usually is very slippery!).
From here you look on the back side of the library and Cafeteria. Just in front of you is the self-help bicycle workshop and an entrance to the cafeteria. To the left you will find A14 and if you follow the right way there will be the main entrance to the cafeteria and the main sporting area of the university.
