About us
All students of Mathematics and Elementary Mathematics of the University of Oldenburg are invited twice a year for an assembly. Here, the student representatives are elected. Those are called Fachschaftsrat, but often also referred to as „Fachschaft“. Usually, our council consists of 30 to 40 people from different programs.
What do we do?
We organize events like Poker tournaments or game nights regularly, represent the students in various councils within the university, help out students who seek advice and organize the orientation week at the beginning of each academic year.
We are not just a working group but more like group of friends. We work according to the motto: Do something that matters, but do it with fun!
When are we doing all of this?
We have regular meetings during the lecture period – on wednesdays, starting at 4:15 pm. During those meetings, we discuss issues that need to be addressed and try to find some solutions. If you have a question, an issue or you would like to participate, then please feel free to stop by! Guests are always welcome!
Would you like to participate?
We are always glad to get another pair of helping hands!
You do not need to be an elected part of the council to help out when we have an event coming up. Especially major events like our preperation course for soon-to-be Math students or the orientation week always need many helpers.
Becoming a member of the council
If you would like to become a member of the council, we highly recommend stopping by at a few of our regular meetings so you can get an impression on what we do. Even as a guest, you are absolutely welcome to discuss with us!
To be elected, you have to offer yourself as interested at the beginning of the upcoming semester. The assembly of all the Maths and Elementary Maths students usually takes place at the end of October and the end of April. Every student studying Mathematics or Elementary Mathematics at our university is invited to this meeting and can vote for the council.
We will inform you about the date of the next general meeting on our homepage and our social media channels.
