Support wanted for Low German advert!

We are looking for support in the implementation of an advertising campaign for our Low German degree programme (application until 11.03.2024).

Dear students,

We are writing to you today to ask for your support in promoting our Low German degree programme at
. As you may know, this programme only
began this winter semester and is therefore still brand new, small and, unfortunately,
simply unknown to many prospective students. We are delighted that we have been able to introduce this degree programme and
can thus, amongst other things, train teachers to teach Low German in schools. As the
transmission of Low German within families is no longer guaranteed, such institutionalisation is also needed
to preserve this endangered regional language.

What do we want to do?

We would like to shoot a short promotional clip in the form of a TikTok on 20 March in A14 at the
Lecture Theatre 1/2. Filming starts at 1.30 pm. We have the room until 8 pm at the latest. However, we cannot yet say how long the shoot
will take. In any case, it won’t go on past 8.00 pm.

We need 50 students to sit in three rows one behind the other in the lecture theatre and hold up letters
. At the end, the words ‘Niederdeutsch studieren’ and ‘Plattdüütsk studeren’ should be visible.
Either just the two phrases in a wave-like movement, or spread out across the
students rhythmically, almost in staccato. We will finalise the choreography in advance and practise
with you on the day of filming.

The clip will be set to suitable music so that none of you can be heard.
The clip will probably be about 30 seconds long.
It will be published on our website (for the degree programme and the Low German department).
And we’d also like to share it on the University of Oldenburg’s social media channels.

The clip isn’t meant to be taken entirely seriously and should be viewed with a pinch of salt, but – and this is
really important to us – nobody should be made to look foolish. That’s why the clip will be professionally managed, filmed, edited and set to music by the M
edienproduktion team. For the same re
, precise planning is required. It would therefore be important for you to reply briefly to
by 11 March to let us know whether you’ll be taking part!

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any remuneration, as this is also a voluntary
commitment on our part to the cause, but refreshments will be provided. Please help us and our new degree programme!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Best regards and many thanks for your support
