Career goal teaching profession

To all Bachelor's students who are aiming to become teachers!

In accordance with the BPO, students on the Bachelor’s degree programme in German Studies are strongly advised to take certain modules from the field of Education/Psychology and the compulsory-elective area as part of the area of specialisation, as these are essential for progression from the Bachelor’s to the Master’s degree programme in Teacher Training.
The enrolment procedures are explained again here:

For students aiming for an M.Ed. G, M.Ed. HR, M.Ed. Sopäd or M.Ed. Gym, the following applies

  • PB 6, PB 7 and PB 9 are compulsory.
  • A total of two modules must be selected from PB 10 to PB 15. One of the modules PB 10–15 may be replaced, amongst other options, by one of the two transdisciplinary modules, PB 4 or PB 5, or by module PB 98 Low German or PB 99 Low German. PB 4 ‘Transdisciplinary Module: Culture and Language I’ is only offered in the winter semester; PB 5 ‘Transdisciplinary Module: Culture and Language II’ is only offered in the summer semester. Students who have not taken PB 4 in the winter semester may still take PB 5 in the summer semester; in other words, PB 4 is not a prerequisite for studying PB 5.
Since the winter semester 18/19, the module pb331 “Key Competences in Linguistics and Cultural Studies and their Professional Fields” can also be selected here.

The information in Appendix 3b of the BPO “PB for students aiming to become teachers” in the version applicable to you is authoritative!

For students aiming for an M.Ed. (Wipaed, formerly BBS), the following applies

  • Please note: Students aiming for an M.Ed. (Wipaed) cannot have a Transdisciplinary Module, nor a PB 98 or PB 99 Low German module, nor a pb331 module recognised for credit!
  • You must complete the PB modules listed in Appendix 3b of the BPO “PB for students aiming to become teachers” in the version applicable to you!
