Study

The University of New England (UNE) is located in the centre of Armidale, a small town in the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, roughly halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. The east coast is about 150 kilometres away. With a population of just under 26,000, Armidale is known for its relaxed lifestyle. The surrounding area is characterised by a hilly landscape and eucalypt forests. Armidale is located in a climate zone with four seasons. Winters are cold and dry, summers are warm. The flora and fauna are characterised by great diversity.

UNE is one of Australia's oldest universities, where a healthy balance between high academic standards and a particularly intercultural and relaxed lifestyle can be found. The fact that students from more than 75 countries are enrolled at UNE contributes significantly to this. UNE's teaching staff have a very good reputation, both in terms of research and teaching. The UNE campus is also well equipped: there are sports facilities with suitable sports programmes, restaurants, medical facilities, childcare, a post office and several banks.

The city of Armidale offers a variety of accommodation options for students, including self-catering accommodation, guest houses, shared flats and private lets. Armidale has numerous shops varying from corporate shops to smaller local shops. This provides a variety and selection of products. In addition to the usual grocery shops such as Woolworths and Coles, Armidale also has Nepalese and Indian grocery shops.
