Professional qualification
The qualification concept is intended to offer doctoral students the opportunity to gain as many qualifications as possible in order to subsequently pursue either a university career or a career in science-related fields. The qualification concept is intended to take account of the fact that not all doctoral students will go on to pursue a university career. Therefore, in addition to academic profiling, the programme also aims to expand skills and orientation in science-related areas (presentation, moderation, science management).
Communication and media training (profiling workshops)
In these workshops, key non-university skills are taught by external experts. The following contents are planned: Media and communication / organisation and management / financial management. These courses are regularly evaluated and adapted to current developments in cooperation with the college management team and labour market researchers.
Project seminars
The project seminars are designed according to the principles of project-oriented teaching and are to be coordinated with selected project seminars from the Master's degree programmes. Here, doctoral students learn about various aspects of academic management (conference organisation, acquiring third-party funding, communication, forms of presentation).
Career promotion
Practice forums take place annually in the winter semester. Professional practitioners provide insights into the world of work and present career fields and entry opportunities for humanities scholars and cultural scientists.
Career Service
The Carl von Ossietzky University's Career Service also offers further information and various career development opportunities. Career Service
