In 2025 and 2026, each faculty will receive €10,000 per year as a sustainability budget. The idea is to enable the faculty to support local sustainability initiatives and implement projects. The project will run as a pilot scheme for two years and will then be evaluated with a view to its continuation.
Completed projects in 2025
The following section outlines the projects and initiatives that have been funded by the faculties through the sustainability budgets or are planned to be funded in this way. The funds for the sustainability budgets come from the central sustainability programme line of the Presidential Board.
Faculty I
Faculty I funded the installation of a water dispenser in Building A01 at the Haarentor site, as well as Prof. Dr Ines Oldenburg’s ‘CampusAcker’ project.
Faculty II
In faculty II, the sustainability budget was used to fund the purchase of a cargo bike. Funding was also provided for the projects “Sustainability Utopias from/by/for Lower Saxony” by Prof. Dr Christian Busse and “Dike Monitoring with Guerrilla Sensing” by Prof. Dr Andreas Winter.
Faculty III
In faculty III, the sustainability budget was used to refurbish two dilapidated kitchenettes and fit them out with more energy-efficient electrical appliances.
Faculty IV
Faculty V
In faculty V, funding was allocated through an internal ideas competition. Among other things, this funding was used to purchase a ‘litter bin’ for collecting rubbish on the campus, as well as to create a sand habitat at the Wechloy site.
Faculty VI
In faculty VI, the installation of a water dispenser in Building V03 was funded by the sustainability budget.
