The new DGB University Report Lower Saxony on the quality of work at universities in Lower Saxony from the perspective of employees was published in summer 2021. The representative results underline that it is high time to organise work and employment at universities differently. Fixed-term and part-time employment rates are very high at universities in Lower Saxony, even among academic staff with doctorates. The precarious employment relationships lead to considerable stress and uncertain life plans. In addition, third-party funded projects are often the reason for fixed-term contracts among technical and administrative staff.
