Projects

Here we document our current and completed projects. You can access the individual project content via the menu or by clicking on the respective logo.

Rethinking working hours - in times of skills shortages

Project duration: April 2024 - August 2025

As part of the discourse on the future, the opportunities, risks, challenges and implementation possibilities of various working time models associated with shorter, more flexible or longer working hours will be discussed. Not least against the backdrop of the current demand for skilled labour, but also the various needs and desires of lifestyles, there is both a pronounced scientific interest in the topic of working hours and a great need in companies and institutions to test or introduce different working time models. You can find more detailed information on the project here.

Skilled labour shortages in the northwest

Project duration: October 2024 - February 2025

The project analyses the quantitative extent, occupation-specific and regional impact of skills shortages in the North West. It also looks at the structural reasons for skills shortages in selected occupational groups that are characterised by different qualities and wage levels. This should enable conclusions to be drawn in order to assess strategic solutions such as extending working hours, increasing the labour force potential through activation, further education and training, and improving working conditions and pay. More detailed information on the project can be found here.

COFONI Working Environment Monitor

Project duration: January 2024 - December 2025

The COFONI Working World Monitor is a joint project of Osnabrück University (Prof. Dr Hajo Holst) and the Office for University and Trade Union Co-operation in Lower Saxony. The aim of the project is to visualise the long-term consequences of the coronavirus pandemic for the world of work. A special focus is on patterns of occupational inequality and how companies deal with post-COVID and long-term COVID. To this end, we are conducting a representative survey of employees, interviews with experts and various event formats. Click here for the project page with further information.

Shaping the socio-ecological transformation together in a fair way

Project duration: January 2023 - December 2024

In this project, we are addressing the challenges of making the world of work, the economy and society sustainable and climate-neutral. To this end, we facilitate dialogues between trade unions and company interest groups, science, the environmental and climate protection movement and politics at nationwide and regional events.

ClimateKnowledge 2023

Climate change - what does it have to do with my life and our nature, how do scientists research climate change, what do waste and repairs have to do with the climate and how can we all make a contribution to counteracting climate change. On these and many other topics (see programme), experts will engage in an online exchange with pupils during the "Climate Knowledge" project day at KlimaTalk.

Hybrid work - the normality of tomorrow

Project duration: August 2022 - July 2023
The practice-oriented future discourse explores the opportunities, risks and design options of hybrid workplaces. To this end, the perspectives of various stakeholder groups on the topics of workplace concepts, work organisation and digitalisation are brought together. You can find more detailed information about the project here.

Working between home and office

Project duration: March 2021 - July 2022

In this future discourse, we are looking at ways of organising good work in the home office. In particular, this involves linking scientific expertise and practical knowledge to company agreements as well as further training opportunities.

ClimateKnowledge 2021

Climate change - what does it have to do with my life and our nature, how do scientists research climate change, what do waste and repairs have to do with the climate and how can we all make a contribution to counteracting climate change. Experts will be discussing these and many other topics with pupils online during the "Climate Knowledge" project day at KlimaTalk.

Digital - Mobile

Project duration: August 2019 - December 2020

The future discourse is dedicated to central questions of the development of digitalised work. The focus is on considerations of how digitalisation is making work increasingly mobile and what positive and negative effects and design options are associated with this from the perspective of the actors involved.

Sustainable mobility

Project duration: June 2019 - June 2021

This future dialogue is about the transformation of the mobility system. We are focussing on overcoming the apparent contradiction between climate protection and job security in the traditional transport sectors. To this end, the interests of different actors from the climate and ecology movement, from companies and trade unions and from science will be linked.
