Exchange meeting for teachers (March 2023)

Organised by the Department for Study Affairs, the event "ChatGPT in university teaching: What does it mean for us? - Information and exchange for lecturers and other interested parties" took place in the library hall. After a welcome and a brief input by staff from the Department for Study Affairs, participants had the opportunity to exchange questions and thoughts on the use of ChatGPT or comparable tools in university teaching and specifically at our university at the themed tables "Planning courses with ChatGPT", "Integrating ChatGPT into teaching" and "Examination processes in teaching".

Conclusion: AI tools can provide impulses or support both in the preparation of courses and in teaching and learning. At the same time, their use is tied to certain prerequisites and competences. These include, for example, competences for evaluating the content created as well as legal aspects. New challenges arise in particular for the design of examinations. The results of the discussions at the topic tables can be seen in the photo protocols below.

Further events for information and exchange at the University of Oldenburg are being planned. Current information can be found on the page "Generative AI in Teaching".
