IDMT inauguration
Great interest in IDMT project group
After a good year of successful existence, the Project Group Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology (IDMT) celebrated its debut at The Haus des Hörens on 11 November 2009. In addition to 100 invited guests from business, science and politics, the Fraunhofer Executive Board Member for Research Planning, Prof Ulrich Buller, and Science Minister Lutz Stratmann were also able to gain a personal impression of the project group's activities. At an exhibition in The Haus des Hörens, guests were able to find out about selected work carried out by the project group and learn, for example, how Oldenburg research can make unpredictable situations recognisable or how voice-enhanced internet telephony works for people with hearing impairments. In addition to the project group, the HörTech Center of Competence, the University of Oldenburg and the Jade University of Applied Sciences also presented their activities in the field of hearing. Last but not least, the close networking of the individual institutions and competences has contributed to making Oldenburg's hearing research known worldwide. One highlight of the event was the impressive exhibition on wheels organised by the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. In the huge truck, which caused a road closure on Marie-Curie-Straße, it became clear in what form the Fraunhofer research work will soon find its way into our everyday lives in concrete applications. In the afternoon, the people of Oldenburg also took the opportunity to find out about the research work at The Haus des Hörens and in the Fraunhofer truck.
