The 2nd Day of Research at the University of Oldenburg on Wednesday, 13 November, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, in the library hall (Haarentor campus) is all about young researchers and their promotion. The event is being organised by the Department for Research and Technology Transfer.
"The training of outstanding young scientists is one of the university's declared aims. The Research Day therefore focuses on the diverse doctoral and funding programmes for doctoral candidates," emphasises Prof. Dr Katharina Al-Shamery, Vice President for Research at the University.
The university's doctoral and funding programmes provide young academics with optimal support in planning their academic careers through structured supervision and further training opportunities. In addition, doctoral candidates are given the opportunity to qualify for leadership positions in non-university professional fields. "Our programmes enable quality assurance of doctorates at the highest level," says Al-Shamery.
The Research Day begins with the awarding of the Carl von Ossietzky Young Researchers' Fellowship - a grant awarded by the university for the first time this year. It supports outstanding and highly qualified young researchers with a doctorate and gives them the opportunity to carry out an independent research project.
In the subsequent workshops, early career researchers and other interested parties will discuss topics such as supervision concepts, Gender equality and internationalisation as well as subject-specific and interdisciplinary qualifications. In the afternoon, the focus will be on the research programmes for early career researchers. The Oldenburg DFG Research Training Groups will present themselves as well as the doctoral programmes funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and the Helene Lange Colleges for early career researchers.
