German scholar Sabine Doering and philosopher Johann Kreuzer publish new Hölderlin book.

"On the Way to Hölderlin" - this is the title of the publication of seven "Studies on Hölderlin's Work and Poetics", edited by the two Oldenburg professors Sabine Doering (German Studies) and Johann Kreuzer (Philosophy). Doering and Kreuzer will present their volume to the public on Wednesday 3 June at 8.15 pm in the library hall (Haarentor campus, Uhlhornsweg).

Both Doering and Kreuzer are experienced Hölderlin experts and have also been on the board of the International Hölderlin Society since 2010; Doering was re-elected to her position as president a year ago. In the 2012/13 winter semester, they organised a series of lectures on Hölderlin to which seven renowned Hölderlin specialists from Germany and abroad were invited.

The individual lectures have now been published in a volume by BIS-Verlag. The spectrum of topics ranges from Hölderlin's relationship to the politics of his time and detailed individual interpretations of his works to questions of edition and the conditions of his remythicisation by the George circle in the early 20th century. The contributions - like the lecture on which they are based - are aimed at a broad audience: anyone interested in Hölderlin, curious readers and experts alike.
