Discover, try out, join in, marvel and play - that is the motto of the KinderCampus. After last year's great success, the university is once again inviting children and their families to an adventure day on the Haarentor campus on Saturday, 20 September from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm. The event is free of charge. Prior registration is required for some activities at uol.de/events/kindercampus-2025 many can be visited spontaneously.
The programme offers a wide range of activities from various areas of the university and shows that there is no end to what the world has to offer: There is an infinite amount to explore in the world. For example, young visitors to the KinderCampus can look forward to two exciting short lectures in the university's largest lecture theatre, the Audimax. They are aimed at schoolchildren between the ages of eight and twelve, although online registration is required in advance. From 11.00 a.m., Lena Haug from the Institute of Educational Sciences will address the topic "Politics is not for children? Not at all!". From 3.00 pm, marine scientist Prof Dr Helmut Hillebrand will speak about biodiversity. His topic: "Everything is so colourful here - why we need the diversity of the sea". During the short lectures, the lecture theatre is reserved for children, adults are not allowed in. However, they can also follow the lectures live on a screen in the seminar room next door without registering.
The lectures are just two of many other exciting programme items on the Haarentor campus that children and their families can look forward to. For example, they can trace the production chain of their own clothes, try out directional hearing in the acoustic labyrinth or immerse themselves in exciting stories in the world of books in the university library. There are also various workshops on topics such as music, ethics, paper making and screen printing. The Tiny Observatory - an observatory on wheels - as well as various offers from university sports, the Oldenburg Teaching-Learning Laboratories (OLELA) and an exhibition on children's rights round off the discovery tour.
The University would like to thank the LzO and the Oldenburg Employers' Association for their commitment in making the event possible.
