Teachers of the STEM subjects – mathematics, Computing Science, natural sciences and technology – can now apply for the 2013 Klaus von Klitzing Prize. The award, worth 15,000 euros, is being presented for the ninth time this year by the University and the EWE Foundation.
We are looking for teachers who, in an outstanding manner, inspire their pupils to engage in scientific work and thinking and foster a passion for STEM subjects. Those interested can apply for the prize online by Friday 2 August or be nominated by a third party. 10,000 euros of the prize money is earmarked for a school project.
Teachers currently in active service who have at least five years’ professional experience in a STEM subject and teach at a school offering the Abitur are eligible to apply. Applicants are also expected to have been involved in extracurricular activities in this field for several years.
Prof. Dr Klaus von Klitzing, Nobel Laureate in Physics and the prize’s namesake, will present the award on Tuesday 22 October during a ceremony in Oldenburg.
