“Health in Interdisciplinary Dialogue” – Prof. Dr Eckhart G. Hahn, Founding Dean of the future School of Medicine, will open the Institute of Philosophy’s series of lectures with a talk on this topic. The event will take place on Monday 16 April at 10.00 am and is open to the public (Haarentor campus, Building A 14, Lecture Theatre 3).
From the winter semester onwards, the University of Oldenburg, in collaboration with the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, will be offering the first cross-border degree programme in human medicine, which serves as a model for others. “Reason enough to make health the theme of the series of lectures and to give a voice to representatives from as many disciplines as possible,” said Prof. Dr Reinhard Schulz, a lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy. 2012 will also mark the inauguration of the Jaspers House, a research and educational institute intended to commemorate the Oldenburg-born physician, philosopher and political writer Karl Jaspers. The individual lectures will therefore address the current health situation, the contributions of Oldenburg’s health research, and Jaspers’ medical and philosophical work.
