University and Jade University of Applied Sciences co-operate in graduate funding

The University’s Graduate Academy is opening its doors to early-career researchers from Jade University of Applied Sciences. This is set out in a cooperation agreement that was signed today.

In future, early-career researchers from Jade University of Applied Sciences will be able to take part in the interdisciplinary training programmes offered by the Graduate Academy at the University of Oldenburg. University President Prof. Dr Babette Simon and Dr Elmar Schreiber, President of Jade University of Applied Sciences, signed a cooperation agreement today. “Providing excellent training and support for early-career researchers is one of our core tasks,” emphasised University President Simon at the signing ceremony. “We are delighted that we can support early-career researchers at Jade University by opening up the Graduate Academy to them.”

“The Graduate Academy offers our students the opportunity to continue their career path in the region,” said Jade University President Dr Elmar Schreiber. “We are pleased that both universities are working together on this, thereby opening the way for our students to pursue a PhD.”

The university’s Graduate Academy was launched at the end of last year. It brings together all services relating to interdisciplinary advice, further education and support for early-career researchers across all subjects and at all qualification levels. These include, for example, courses on science communication, academic writing and the development and management of research projects. Doctoral students and other researchers can also receive further education in higher education pedagogy and learn how to lead project groups. One of the Graduate Academy’s objectives is also to promote career paths in business and administration – and thus outside academia.

The new agreement further expands the university’s co-operation with Jade University of Applied Sciences, which has been governed by a framework agreement since 1 July 2010 and is enshrined in the Act on the Development of Universities of Applied Sciences in Lower Saxony.
