Communication and Advice
Communication and Advice
Within the framework of the series of events "Communication", knowledge in the field of medical communication is taught from the first module onwards and competences necessary for medical consultation are systematically trained.
In the first three years of study, basic features that characterise the medical consultation process are taught. Appropriate conversation techniques are demonstrated and applied in practical exercises. The communication techniques learnt are applied to patients during general practice observations.
In the fourth year of study, the skills of the KPF and communication pathways are brought together and deepened in practical exercises. In the Clinical Training Centre (KTZ), clinical-practical skills are again intensively trained on simulators and phantoms.
Communication training is deepened in the fourth year of study with simulators and the teaching content is specifically linked to clinical content. Case seminars bring together the previous clinical-theoretical, practical and communicative training. The aim is to ensure theory-practice transfer and to promote the students' clinical competence. Another new event format is the subject-specific consultation. Here, the students carry out a complete consultation (incl. physical examination) with simulation persons. In the OSCE, both technical and communicative skills are then tested accordingly. In the block practicals, the students experience patient contacts under the guidance of trained doctors.
As part of the PE Year 5 workshop series, students have the opportunity to further qualify themselves in a targeted and interest-based manner via the "Communication" pillar.
