Sport and exercise
Welcome to the "Sport and Exercise" department
The "Sport and Movement" department of the Institute of Sport Science, headed by Prof Dr Jörg Schorer, is interested in understanding and researching sport motor and sport psychological phenomena in sport and other fields of movement. In research and teaching, approaches from sports motor skills and sports psychology (including eye movement and whole-body movement analyses) as well as related sub-disciplines of sports science and other scientific disciplines are applied.
This approach results in two pillars of the department. Firstly, problem-, basic- and application-oriented research based on interdisciplinary and (inter-)national co-operation. And secondly, practice-relevant teaching with research-, problem- and service learning-orientated approaches to the development and transfer of knowledge and skills.
A central goal of our work is responsible career planning and support for students, student assistants, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. We achieve this through respectful cooperation, successful teamwork and a fair distribution of workloads and work content within and outside our team.
