Welcome to the "Sport and Training" department
The "Sport and Training" department of the Institute of Sport Science, headed by Prof Dr Dirk Büsch, conducts research in the fields of training science and the health effects of exercise.
An overview of current and completed studies and projects can be found under research projects. Training science, research methods, sports medicine and health content are taught in the teaching programme.

German Handball Federation Science Award goes to Dr Nicolas Bloß
Our former employee Dr Nicolas Bloß was awarded the Science Prize of the German Handball Federation (DHB) for his dissertation on "Impact of physical and psychological load on top-class handball referees' decisions and reasonings". In his work, he investigated how physical and psychological stress influence the quality of decisions made by top-class handball referees. Congratulations to him!

3rd place Reinhard-Daugs-Förderpreis
We would like to congratulate our colleague Jessica Heil on winning 3rd place in the Reinhard-Daugs-Förderpreis. This was awarded to her on 8 September 2022 at the 17th Annual Conference of the Section for Sports Motor Skills in Karlsruhe for her research work "Physical strain and asymmetries" .
