The project has the task of preparing a socio-spatial expert report for the city of Mülheim a. d. Ruhr, which is to form the basis for the development of a city-wide, socio-spatial integration policy.

Integration policy tasks will become even more important for many municipalities in the future because the proportion of immigrants in the urban population is growing. At the same time, local authorities will have to deal with the consequences of increasing socio-spatial segregation within the city. In Mülheim an der Ruhr, too, the city's neighbourhoods are becoming increasingly segregated and disadvantaged districts are emerging. The city has therefore commissioned a specialist report to help develop a socio-spatial integration concept aimed at minimising further segregation and socially stabilising the disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
